nitehawk cinema & apartments

Home to Brooklyn’s independent movie house the Nitehawk Cinema which features tableside food and beverage service, this project also include adding three floors above the cinema to create nine residential apartments. The apartments are organized in an “L” shape around a courtyard above the theater which provides outdoor space for residents. The project repurposed an existing mid-century warehouse building and made use of the existing yellow brick façade as an anchor for the LED illuminated zinc panel system above that functions as a contemporary marquee. Caliper collaborated with the owners of RePop, a vintage furniture shop, to design the interiors of this unique “theatrical” establishment.
